How often does what you worry about actually happen? I will bet that, unless you are very selective in worrying, your answer to this question is "Not that often". After years of worrying about things only to have our worries not come true, sometimes we unintentionally make a connection - when we worry about things, they do not happen. This connection often leads us to believe that our worrying keeps unwanted events from occurring. We then become afraid not to worry. This is what Maxie Maultsby, MD, calls "magical worry".
